Pinckneyville, IL - Edith M. Burgett, 90, of Pinckneyville, IL formerly of Peoria died at 8:45 pm Tues., March 14, 2006 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital. She was born Aug. 22, 1915 in Bath, IL the daughter of Jacob and Lena Bell Clark Lane. She married LeRoy "Sam" Burgett Aug. 22, 1931 in Macomb, IL and he died March 23, 1977.

She is survived by one son, William Burgett of Brimfield, IL, two daughters, Donna Reynolds of Pinckneyville and Wilma Lowe of Lewistown, IL. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren. Shw was preceded in death by one granddau., Glenda; one grandson, Anthony three sons, Archie, Donald and LeRoy, Jr, two great grandchildren, five brothers, one ˝ brother, 1 sister and five ˝ sisters.

Mrs. Burgett was an accomplished song writer and poet. She wrote many jingles and commercials when she lived in Peoria including "Caterpillar Women" which was published in the Peoria Journal Star. She was a member of the American Song Writer’s Association, a volunteer for Suicide Hotline and a volunteer for Senior Citizens. She worked for many years in area hospitals in Peoria and Pekin, as a private duty nurse and for several years as an assistant in Doctors offices and rehab centers in Peoria and Pekin.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Sat. March 18, 2006 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana with burial in the Waterford Cemetery near Lewistown. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 pm Friday at the Hurley Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
