Harriett Churchill

Harriet L. Benson Churchill, of Petersburg, Illinois died November 23, 2011 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.

She was born on January 19, 1909, the daughter of James and Mae Bell Benson. She married Harold Churchill on January 12, 1932, in Decatur. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and a sister.

Mrs. Churchill was employed by West Food Stores, Inc., Menard County Mutual Farm Insurance, and Stanley Gerdes Insurance. She was a member of First Christian Church in Petersburg.

Surviving is her daughter, Judy (Al) Henrichs of Decatur, Illinois. She is also survived by one nephew, David (Bettie) Churchill of Petersburg; nieces, Pat (W.T.) Todd, Kristie (Dewayne) Gilley of Woodbury, Tennessee, and Linda Brandon of Mount Airy, North Carolina.

Graveside services were held at Oakland Cemetery for the family.

The family wishes to thank the staffs at Menard Medical Clinic, Countryside Estates, and Sunny Acres for their care, support, and love over the years, and also her “family” of friends.
