Betty Kiper

(1928 - 2011)

Betty Jean Kiper, 83, of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Mason City Area Nursing Home. She was born on August 19, 1928 in Petersburg to George Lee and Minnie Mae (Fairow) Sherren. She married James W. Kiper. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by four daughters, Sandra (Steven) Dierks of Petersburg, Frieda (Bub) McCoy of Arenzville, Margaret (Mike) Todd of Springfield, and Jean Kiper of Mason City; two sons, Vernon (Brenda) Kiper of Lincoln, and John Kiper of Peterbsurg; one sister, Maxine Reller of Silvis, IL; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three children, Sharon, Karen, and James Michael Kiper; two brothers; and one sister.

Betty had worked at the National Bank of Petersburg and for the State of Illinois. She enjoyed reading, doing crosswords, canning garden produce, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 11:00 am at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mason City Area Nursing Home, Harbor Lights Hospice, or to her family to assist with funeral expenses.
