Nelson G. Kiesling

1915-2011

 

Nelson G. Kiesling, 95 of Mason City died at 10:00pm on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.  He was born on July 16, 1915 the son of Lawrence G. and Ola Pearl (Hovey) Kiesling in Mason City.  He married Lela M. Willard in Manito on August 4, 1946.

Survivors are his wife, Lela; one son: Jonathan (Karan) Kiesling of St. Louis, MO; four daughters: Judy (Glenn) Ellis of Lexington, KY, Jennifer (Daniel) Craddock of Scottsdale, AZ, Jeannine ( Allen) Pickering of Lincoln, IL, Lisa (Lyle) Rudin of Towanda, IL.  Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  His is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Mr. Kiesling graduated from Easton High School in 1933, a member of the United Presbyterian Church, where he was an active member for many years.  Nelson served in the United States Air Force during WWII, was farmer for over 50 years.

He made an Anatomical Gift to medical research, there will be no visitation or funeral service, a celebration of Nelson’s life was held last July in honor of his 95th birthday.  All of his family from seven states was in attendance.  Those who wish to make a donation may make them to the MCANH Activity Department or Harbor Light Hospice.
