Ashland, IL - Velma R. Pearn, 89, of Ashland, formerly of Chandlerville, IL died at 10:20 pm Sat. March 18, 2006 at OSF St. Francis, Peoria, IL. She was born July 15, 1916 in Morgan County, IL the daughter of Benjamin Thomas and Bessie Maude Douglas Willis. She married John Franklin Pearn Dec. 15, 1933 and he preceded her in death in 1998.

Mrs. Pearn is survived by one daughter, Beverly "Jodie" (Tom) Standish of Washington, IL with whom she made her home the last several years. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Tom (Stephanie) Standish of Eureka, IL; Teresa (Jan) Ruehlicke of Hamburg, Germany; John (Sara) Standish of Towanda, IL and six great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Chandlerville Woman’s Club where she was a past president; a member of the Chandlerville Improvement Council; former president of the Chandlerville PTA; A member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary; and avid camper, she and her husband often wintered in southern Texas. She and her husband formerly owned the Chandlerville Telephone Company where she operated the switch board and did the clerical work. She also liked to sew and do craft work.

Services will be held at 10:00 am Thurs. March 23, 2006 at the Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville with burial in the Ashland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home in Chandlerville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
