Waltraud "Wally" Cox

(1946 - 2012)

Waltraud “Wally” H. Skaggs Cox, 65, of Pleasant Plains passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 9:22 a.m. at home. Waltraud was born in Bayreauth, Germany on April 27, 1946, the daughter of George and Katharina Roderer. Waltraud “Wally” came to the U.S.A. on December 23, 1965, and became a U.S. citizen on November 23, 1994. Wally married William D. Skaggs on June 16, 1964 in Benk, Germany. They later divorced. Wally later married Donald L. Cox on October 8, 1992; he preceded her in death on March 26, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and grandson, Matthew.

Wally began a long career working at Parkview Cafe for 16 years, later she worked at Garret Aviation for 16 years until her retirement. Her hobbies were playing plinko, her dog Toby, and pie baking.

Wally is survived by two sons, Thomas (Susan) of Petersburg, and Eric of Pleasant Plains; brother, Arthur (Erika) Roderer ; a niece, Liane; and sister, Heidi in Germany; nine grandchildren, Ashley (Scott) Coil of San Antonio, TX , Amber (fiancé, Dennis Romaker) Skaggs of Springfield, Abby (fiancé, Josh Warrner) Skaggs of Havana, Thomas J., AnnaMarie, and Ty Skaggs, Emily and Noah Herman, and Sayre Skaggs of Petersburg; two great grandchildren, Trent and Ada Coil of San Antonio, Tx; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Tallula Baptist Church, with Pastor Dale Sinclair officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Garner Chapel Cemetery in Philadelphia, IL. Pallbearers will be Sayre Skaggs, Thomas J. Skaggs, Dennis Romaker, Josh Warrner, Jim Masten, and Jackie Willis.
