William Stiltz

(1925 - 2012)

William James Stiltz, 86, of Tallula, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 2:25 am at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on February 24, 1925 in Barr Township, Illinois to Floyd L. and Edith Mae (Crouch) Stiltz. He married Mary Alicia Epperly on June 7, 1945 in Tallula.

He is survived by his wife, Alicia of Tallula; two sisters, Bernice Clark of Springfield and Dolores Barber of Archer, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Roger; two brothers, Richard and Eldon; and a sister, Sharon.

Mr. Stiltz was a retired farmer and was a Pioneer Seed representative for 40 years.  He was a member of Tallula Christian Church, where he served as an elder and deacon. He was also a past President of the church board. He was a former member of Kiwanis in Tallula, where he had served as President and Vice President. William was also a former member of the Menard County Fair Board, Menard County Extension Council, and Greenwood Cemetery Board.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 10:00 am at Tallula Christian Church with Rev. David Poeschel officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, January 20, 2012 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Tallula.
