Adelaide L. Griffin

1906 - 2008

Havana, IL - Adelaide L. Griffin, 102, of Havana passed away at 3:50 pm Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 at the Havana Healthcare Center. She was born Jan. 12, 1906 in Pekin, IL the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Theobald Hancock. She married Clarence H. Griffin June 18, 1930 in Havana and he preceded her in death Jan 20, 1995.

Mrs. Griffin was a member of the First Baptist Church in Havana, where she taught Sunday School for many years, and she also was a member of the Happy Hour Card Club. She is survived by one daughter, Martha Williams and two sons, James (Carla) Griffin and Joe (Martha) Griffin all of Havana. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters and one grandson..

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, Nov. 10, 2008 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana conducted by Rev. David Byrd. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Havana. Memorial contributions may be made to Havana Health Care Patient Christmas Fund or her church.
