Alice Ayvonne Close (1924-2007)
Alice Ayvonne Close, 83 of Mason City died 4:40am, September 18, 2007 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born April 2, 1924, the daughter of John B. and Ruby (Dooley) Gunterman in Bath. She married Roy A. Close, June 15, 1940 in New London, MO, he precedes her in death. Survivors are two daughters: Loretta (Garrett) Myers of North Liberty, IA, Diana Dixon of Mason City; two sons: Brad (Melanie) Close of Mason City, children: Meagan (companion, Robert Hubbard) Close, two great-grandchildren: David and Aleyah Hubbard, all of Champaign, Whitney Close of Champaign, Bryan (Ronda) Close, their children; Jicole and Jazmine Close all of Mason City. Mrs. Close was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister. Mrs. Close graduated from Mason City; she worked for Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital as an LPN, retired after 30 years of service. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Havana. Graveside services will be 11:00am, Friday, September 21, 2007, at the Mason City Cemetery. The Rev. Curt McCallister will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason City Fire Department or Mason County Pets without Parents. Hurley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
