Alice Horn
(1919 - 2010)

Alice Roberta Horn, 90, of Petersburg, passed away on May 20, 2010 at 1:55 am at Sunny Acres Home in Petersburg. She was born on November 23, 1919 to Alva Clarence and Anna Julia Gordon Tozer. She married John William Horn on June 21, 1944 in Petersburg.
She is survived by three sons, Gene (Jackie) Horn, Alan (Gail) Horn, and Larry (Freta) Horn, all of Petersburg; a brother, Harold (Evelyn) Tozer of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Lisa (David) Halbig of Harrisburg, NC,Christa (Kevin) Tober of Middleton, WI, Brian (Tara) Horn of Sherman, Lindsay (Jake) Faulkner of Springfield, Adam Horn of Chicago, Shannon Horn of Dallas, TX, Larry (Sonya) Horn of Yuba City, CA, and Kari (Brian) Cottrel of Mission, KS; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her husband; two brothers Woodrow and Clarence Tozer; and four sisters, Norma Faye Tozer, Mildred Wiseman, Bertha Knoles, and Virginia Hinrichs preceded her in death.
She had been a homemaker and business partner in the John Horn Trucking Company for over 40 years. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and served as an elder. She was also a member of Menard County Garden Club. She was a lover of flowers, and entered many beautiful roses at the Menard County Fair. She was also a member of Petersburg Women’s Club and American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 11:00 am at Central Presbyterian Church in Petersburg. Rev. Julie Wells Blythe will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 3:00 pm till 5:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
