Annis Worthington

Annis C. Worthington, 91, of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 12:09 am at Sunny Acres Home in Petersburg. She was born on August 3, 1919 in Mt. Sterling to Charles W. and Edith Osborne Clark. She married Max J. Worthington on September 8, 1938 in Mt. Sterling.
She is survived by three sons, David J. (Clara) Worthington of DuQuoin, Bruce (Beverly) Worthington and Stafford (Dara) Worthington, all of Petersburg; six grandchildren, Deborah (Terrill) Laughton, Chad (Tara) Worthington, Barbara (Jeff) Coffen, Jordan, Annie, and Summer Worthington; and five great grandchildren, Madison and Matthew Worthington, Elizabeth and Eleanor Laughton, and Nathaniel Coffen.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Sheila Ann; a brother, Harold Clark; and a sister Eloise Frasier.
She graduated from Gem City Business School. She had worked as the director of the lunch program at PORTA school district for 26 years.
She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Petersburg, a volunteer of Lincoln’s New Salem Historical Site, and a board member of Menard County Health Department and the Petersburg Public Library. She also was a volunteer at the Dana Thomas House and the Governor’s Mansion.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church in Petersburg. Rev. Ed Loper will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
