Arthur Elmer Finch 1922 - 2008
Arthur Elmer Finch, 86, of rural Chandlerville, passed away at his home at 1:54 a.m. on Thursday, December 25, 2008. He was born November 17, 1922 in Lynchburg Twp. to Ade and Emma (Sisson) Finch. He married Vera Lee McLin on May 12, 1945 in Chandlerville. She preceded him in death on December 23, 1996. Mr. Finch is survived by two daughters, Anna Lee (Dan) Gallagher of Sandy, UT and Teresa Arlene (Kent) Schurg of Champaign, IL. Also surviving are four grandchildren, James Gallagher of Rochester, NY , Jeffrey Gallagher of Tupelo, MS, Amy Gallagher of St. Ives, England and Jonathan Gallagher of West Des Moines, IA and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Finch attended Bethel Baptist Church his whole life and committed his life to Jesus Christ when he was 16. He taught Sunday School there for 44 years. He started farming in the fall of 1940 and retired in the fall of 1999. He also worked as a rural mail carrier for 42 years. He was involved in the A.S.C. and farm service organizations for 41 years. He was a member of the Mason County Zoning Board for 33 years. Funeral services will be held at his church at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2008. Visitation will be held at the Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008. Rev. Duane Turley and Rev. Vince French will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Bethel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church. Online memorial messages may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com.
