Barbara Wells Young
1950-2011

Barbara Wells Young, 60, of Petersburg passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 10:24 pm at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on August 9, 1950 in Whitefish Bay, WI to Robert and Jean Rosky Wells.
Her brother Don of Petersburg survives her. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Barbara was an RN. She received her BS and BSN, and worked as a flight nurse, trauma nurse, ER nurse, charge nurse, and ICU nurse. She was also a licensed taxidermist and had won several local and state awards with furs on display at Blackhawk Museum in the Quad Cities. Barb loved gardening, traveling (especially to Colorado), and pursing her education, having received five associates’ degrees.
She had many different interests that led to a variety of careers, including a pharmacy technician and operating the lights at Northern Illinois University for the theatre department. She loved coffee houses and had a passion for music.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. John Vidakovich will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m and also one hour prior to the funeral services on Saturday. Cremation rites will be accorded.
