Barbara Jean Burgett

1930 - 2011

Barbara Jean Burgett, 81, of Canton, passed away at Methodistl Medical Center in Peoria at 10:10 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2011. She was born July 27, 1930 in Mason County, IL to Ben and Arlene (Blessman) Schaeffer. She married W. Dale Burgett on July 19, 1993.

Mrs. Burgett is survived by her husband, Dale, of Canton, daughter, Lisa D. (Chris) Bradfield of Liberty, MO, son, Greg (Terisha) Hess of Pekin, three step-daughters Brenda Rogers of Havana, Christe Skeens of Murphysboro, IL and Debbie Hagney of Havana, one step-son, Kimber Burgett of Havana as well as four grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are seven brothers and sisters, Dick Schaeffer, Danny Schaeffer, Joyce Foster, Don Schaeffer, Janice Vanderveen, Charles Schaeffer and Linda Witt. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Rita Smith.

Mrs. Burgett was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church at Snicarte. She was an avid bowler and bowled for many years on the Four Seasons Largent’s Moblie Morning Glories team in Canton. She worked for Schierers Dairy in Morton for many years and also worked as a bookkeeper for a silhouette artist.

Visitation will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Rev. Mike Hopps will officiate.
