Bobbie D. O'Brien

1932 - 2008

 

Bobbie D. O'Brien, 75, of Greenview passed away February 4, 2008 at 11:45 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Mr. O'Brien was born March 28, 1932 to Forrest and Velma Reeder O'Brien.  He married Marjorie Hughes November 12, 1950 in Sweetwater, she survives.

Mr. O'Brien was a self employed contractor for 40 years.  He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1952.  He was a member of the Greenview Masonic Lodge #653 for 39 years, he was also a Scottish Rite Mason, he was a lifetime member of the AMVETS post #179. He was a member of the Menard County Sportsman Club, and the Amateur Trapshooting Association.  He was also a member of the Greenview Christian Church. 

Surviving are his wife Marjorie of Greenview, one son Terry O'Brien of Greenview, two daughters Vicki (Dean) Boswell of Washington, Il, and Christine (Gail) Riggleman of Greenview, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three sisters Geri (Walt) Davidson of Greenvalley, Betty Jo (Larry ) Parrish of Springfield, and Marilyn (Art) Woollen of Rochester. 

Mr. O'Brien is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m.  Friday February 8, 2008 at the Hurley funeral home in Petersburg, with Pastor Dan Roseberry officiating.  Visitation will be held Thursday February 7, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview.
