Bobby C. Anderson

(1927-2010)

Bobby C. Anderson passed away on November 5, 2010 at his residence in Mason City, Illinois with his daughters by his side. He was born on May 28, 1927 to Angie Alberta Rogers and Edward Ferrill Anderson in Mercer County, Missouri. From May 24, 1945 to August 23, 1946 he served his country in the United States Naval Service in the Asiatic Pacific. He was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. Bob married Thelma N. Harris on May 28, 1951 in Chillicothe, Missouri.

Until retirement, he was employed by Quality School Plan (QSP), a subsidiary of Reader's Digest, setting up fund-raising campaigns in many area schools. Throughout his life, he was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, active in Boy Scouts and Boys State, a basketball referee and a former city council member. Bob loved to golf and fish in the Lake of the Ozarks in the summer and in the Gulf of Mexico in the winter.

He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma on September 22, 2010. Surviving are one brother Wendell (Betty) Duane Anderson of Independence, Missouri: two daughters, Susan (Jerry) Norris and Patricia (Mike) Culbertson; and one grandson, Clayton Edward Culbertson, all of Mason City, Illinois.

Cremation rites have been accorded. At Bob's request no formal services will be held at this time. Memorials may be made to the Mason City Memorial Pool or to the Mason City American Legion replacement flag fund.
