Edward Burdette Caldwell

1919 - 2008

Edward Burdette Caldwell, 88, of Springfield, formerly of Havana, passed away at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield at 6:55 a.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2008. He was born May 11, 1919 in Industry, IL to Bert and Myrtle (Lowderman) Caldwell. He married Freida P. Skaggs on December 2, 1945 in Havana. She preceded him in death on February 27, 2002.

Mr. Caldwell is survived by two daughters: Lela Snyder and Linda (Hank) Keene, both of Springfield, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister.

Mr. Caldwell was a former member of the Havana United Methodist Church, Laborers Local #231 in Pekin, and the Mason Co. Sheriff’s Posse. He loved to ride horses. He had served his country in WWII in the Army.

Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
