Carl "Swede" Ed 1923 - 2006 Carl “Swede” Ed, 82 of Petersburg, died Friday September 29, 2006, at St Johns Hospice in Springfield. He was born December 3, 1923 in Moline, Illinois. The son of Carl J. and Anna Burke Ed. He married Eileen Moody in 1946 in Petersburg, Illinois. He is survived by two sons, Robert Michael (wife Pat) Ed and Gregory Mark (wife Georgia) Ed, both of Petersburg, on daughter Gloria (husband Ron) Hoehn of Chatham. One brother Donald (wife Betty) Ed of Springfield, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, one brother, and one sister. Mr. Ed was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Petersburg, VFW post 6871 in Petersburg, Greater Springfield Bowling Association, and member of the Illinois Thorobred Breeder Association. He was a U. S. Navy WW II Veteran, and the former owner or Roseview Greenhouse. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church Wednesday October 4, 2006; Father Donald Knuffman will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday October 3, 2006 from 5-7 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Petersburg. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peters Catholic Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com. Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg is in charge of arrangements. |
