Carl Edward Solomonson M.D.

(1928 - 2006)

Carl E. Solomonson, M.D., 77, of Mason City, IL died at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday March 4, 2006 at his home. He was born May 27, 1928 in Warren, OH to Carl E. Sr. and Erma (Morrall) Solomonson. He married Grace D. Mathers on November 2, 1960 in Mason City.

Dr. Solomonson is survived by his wife Grace of Mason City; two daughters Marta (John) Tetzeli of Memphis, TN and Sonja Solomonson of Danville, IN; and two grandchildren Audrey and Gabriel Tetzeli, both of Memphis, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Carl was raised in Niles, OH and was a graduate of McKinley High School. He later graduated from Case-Western Reserve College in Cleveland, OH in 1949 and George Washington University Medical School in 1953. He served as a medical officer in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 – 1956.  Carl was employed at the Kaiser Hospital in Fontana, CA where he met his wife. Later he had a private medical practice in Eureka, CA from 1961-1988. He was a member of the Mason City United Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder. He was also a member of the Mason City Rotary Club, where he had been awarded the Paul Harris Award.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mason City United Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Monday, March 6, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Burial will be at Mason City Cemetery. Rev. Randall Paine will officiate.
