Carol June Biggs

1930 - 2008

Carol June Biggs, 77, of Virginia, died on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 7:05 pm at St. Johns Hospital. She was born on April 12, 1930 in Petersburg to Clarence Antle and Eliza Caroline McHenry Tippett. She married Glenn W. Biggs on September 23, 1955 in Petersburg.  He preceded her in death on January 21, 1999.

She is survived by her daughter, Marla (husband Robert) Smith and granddaughter Kandy “Missy” Smith of Virginia; two sisters, Anna L Peterson of Redondo Beach, CA and Mildred P. “Micky” Horn of Morton, IL.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, Clarence “Bud” Tippett; two sisters, Ruby Feese and Helen Power; a niece, Judy Power Bedore and one nephew, Larry Power.

Mrs. Biggs had worked at the Ideal plant in Petersburg, at a jewelry store, and was the Petersburg site manager for Bread of Love.  She had also worked at Lincolns New Salem gift shop.

Mrs. Biggs was an active member of the Virginia Church of Christ where she served as Sunday school superintendent, a deaconess and on the nurturing committee. She was a member of the Cass County Home Extension.  She also loved spending time with her cat Precious.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 11 at 11:00 am at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg, with Pastor Les Featheringill officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday, February 10 from 3 to 5 pm.  Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Petersburg, IL.  Memorials may be made to the Virginia Church of Christ, Cass county food pantry or the Virginia Ministerial Alliance.
