Charles L. Young (1931 - 2005) Charles Lendel Young, 73, of Petersburg, died on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 2:45 am. He was born on November 14, 1931 to James and Edna Brazier Young. He married Barbara Lee Clevenger on May 26, 1956 in Shawneetown, IL. Mr. Young had worked as a printer for the Carmide Times in Southern IL and worked at the General Printing Company in Springfield, IL. He later began working for the Illinois State Police where he was awarded as a sharp shooter, he retired from the ISP in 1986 as a special agent for the Division of Criminal Investigation. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Shambolee Golf Course in Petersburg, IL. He was also a member of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three sons, Timothy (Jackie) Young of Petersburg, IL, Gregory (Carol) Young of Springfield, Mark Young of Petersburg; one daughter, Kimberly (Terry) Fitch of Sherman, IL; and 5 grandchildren. Services are Friday, September 27, 2005 at 11 am at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 pm till 8 pm. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Menard County Rescue Squad. |
