Charles M. Martin

(1923 - 2006)

Charles M. Martin, 82, of Havana , IL died at the Havana Health Care Center on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. He was born on March 30, 1923 in Keensburg , IL to Francis and Sabre (Maddox) Martin. He married June Watson on October 4, 1943 in St. Louis , MO. She survives. 

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife June of Havana; one daughter Cheri (Gene) Dierker of Manito and on son Joe (Donna) Martin of Petersburg and one grandson Eric Dierker. Also surviving are two brothers: Sherman Martin of Chester, IL and Francis Martin of Collinsville , IL . He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. 

Charles was a former Havana Precinct Committeeman and Alderman. He was also a 50 year member of both the Havana VFW Post #6408 and Havana Odd Fellows. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1941 until 1946. Later he worked as a barber and owned Martin’s Barber and Beauty Shop in Havana for 37 years.   

Funeral services for Mr. Martin will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening, also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana following the services.
