Charles R. "Bud" Mowder, Jr.

(1925-2005)

Charles Mowder, Jr. of Havana, died 9:45 p.m. Wednesday 11 May 2005 at Mason District Hospital, Havana, IL.  He was born 13 February 1925 in Havana to C. Raymond and Dorothy (Mowman) Mowder.  He married Betty Strube who preceded him in death in 1992.  In 1993 he married Kathleen Ashurst Skaggs in Horseshoe Bend, AK. 

Survivors include his wife, 3 sons: William (wife, Judy) Mowder of Horseshoe Bend, AR, Charles (wife, Pam) Mowder, III of Bettendorf, IA, Joseph (Kris) Mowder of Bartonville, IL; 3 daughters: Cecelia Wagner of Colorado Springs, CO, Betsy (husband, Steve) Tammeus of Highland, CO and Kathleen (husband, Bob) Davis of Horseshoe Bend, AR; stepson: Dennis (wife, Kris) Skaggs of Havana, IL and 2 step-daughters: Terry (husband, Marshall) Markley of Havana and Wendy (husband, Leonard) Barnard of Canton, IL; sister: Virginia (husband, Bob) Long of Springfield, IL; 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: Jack.

Mr. Mowder, Jr. served in the US Navy during WWII, was a plant manager for Caterpillar, Inc., retiring in 1981.  He first worked at East Peoria, then Bettendorf, IA, in Belgium and retired from the Mossville plant.  He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, American Legion post #138, former Mayor of Horseshoe Bend, AK for 12 yrs. and a Honorary member of Municipal League of Little Rock, AK.

Services for Mr. Mowder, Jr. will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday 17 May 2005 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Havana, IL.  Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery with the Fr. Stephen Engelbrecht.  Military Rites will be conducted at the Graveside Service in by Havana Post #138 American Legion Post 6408 VFW. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday 13 May 2005 at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana, IL.  Rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Memorial Contribution may be made to the St. Patrick's Building Fund or the First United Methodist Church Parking Lot Fund.
