Charles R. Probasco 1913 - 2006
Charles R. Probasco, 93, of San Jose, died at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at 4:55 p.m. He was born August 11, 1913 in rural San Jose, IL to David and Lillian (Zimmerman) Probasco. He married Margery Elizabeth Leavitt on March 27, 1937 in Crawfordsville, IN. Mr. Probasco is survived by two sons: Errol (Jalna) Probasco of Palos Heights, IL and Carroll (Patricia) Probasco of San Jose, IL, four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister, Elizabeth Reardon. Mr. Probasco was a member of San Jose United Methodist Church. He was a Past Master of the San Jose Lodge. He was a member of the Delavan Masonic Lodge #156; Blue Lodge, 32nd level Consistory, and the Peoria Shriners Lodge. He was a graduate of San Jose High School. He retired in 1978 from Local #974 after 42 years as a welder at Caterpillar, Inc. Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in San Jose on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at Green Hill Cemetery in San Jose. Memorial contributions may be made to the San Jose – United Methodist Church or St. Clara’s Manor in his name.
