Charles Ray “Buck”
Sharp, 74, of Atterberry, died on Saturday, December 30,
2006 at 1:50 pm at Memorial Medical Center in
Springfield. He was born on May 12, 1932 in Sangamon
County the son of Charles and Betty Hamm Sharp. He married
Selma Snyder on June 13, 1954 in
Petersburg, IL. He was preceded in death by two
infant sons, Chuckie and Tracy Sharp, and one brother.
Mr. Sharp was a
U.S. Army veteran of Korea. He worked for the Snyder Lumber
Co. for 22 years and was co-owner for 8 years. He also
owned and operated the Model Repair Shop for 20 years before
retiring. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Petersburg.
He is survived by
his wife Selma; one son, Mike (wife Jackie) Sharp of
Petersburg, two daughters; Shelia (husband Jim) Hixon and
Lori (husband Dan) Sullivan, both of Petersburg, twelve
grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two brothers, Gary
Sharp of
Springfield and Stanley Sharp of Colombus, OH, also
survive him.
Funeral services
will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 11:00 am at
the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. Rob Loretz will
be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 2,
2007 from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm, also at the Hurley Funeral
Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
