Charles W. Stiltz

1923 - 2008

Charles W. Stiltz, 85, of Springfield, formerly of Petersburg, died November 15, 2008 at 9:36 am at his residence. He was born on July 4, 1923 in Barr Station, IL to Lloyd C. and Christina Klokkenga Stiltz. He married Glenna M. Melton on Dec. 15, 1946 in Petersburg.

His wife Glenna; a daughter, Sally Rebbe; a special friend, Mike Harlow; and a grandson, Tyler Rebbe, all of Springfield, survive him.  One uncle, Edward Klokkenga of Pekin and several nieces and nephews, also survive him.

Mr. Stiltz farmed in the Tallula area for many years before moving to Petersburg and working for Ideal Industries, retiring in 1986 after 18 years with them.  After moving to Springfield he was very active in the ceramics dept. of the Senior Service Center of Il.    Charles enjoyed Farmall tractors, gardening and lawn mowing, often mowing his neighbors yards while living in Petersburg, and spending time with his family, especially with his daughter and only grandson.  

Graveside services will be held Monday, November 17, 2008 at 1:00 pm at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg with Rev. Bill Lindsey officiating.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
