Clarence E. Sheary

(1917-2011)

Clarence E. “Ed” Sheary, 93, of Mason City passed away at 4:24 pm on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at his residence.  He was born December 28, 1917, the son of Clarence and Nora Gertrude (Morris) Sheary in Mason City, IL.  He married Grace Ilene Cave on December 11, 1937, she died in December 1983.  He married Mildred Horner on May 24, 1988 in Warrenton, Mo.


Survivors include his wife and his children: Norma (Earl W.) Gilmore of Hickson, TN, Thomas (Linda) Sheary of Mason City, IL, Betty Jo (Jack) Bane of Morton, IL.  Two step sons: Don (Carol) Horner of Warrenton, MO and Richard (Brenda) Horner of Vandalia, IL.  Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchildren, 4 step grand children and 4 step great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents, one half sister and one half brother.

Mr. Sheary was a member of the Mason City United Methodist Church.  He retired in 1976 after working for over 40 years at Caterpillar where he worked in inventory and control.  Ed served in the United State Army during WWII.  He was also a member of Jackson-Keen Post 496. 

Services will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at  Hurley Funeral Home, visitation will be one hour prior to service.  Nash Shawgo will officiate.  Burial will be at Mason City Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to TAPS in Pekin, IL.  Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements.
