Clifton Phillips

1915 - 2007

Clifton Phillips, 92, of Havana, died at Mason District Hospital in Havana at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2007. He was born July 12, 1915 in Lebanon, MO to Russell and Susan Phillips. He married Dorthy Anglen on January 1, 1939 in Lebanon.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife Dorthy of Havana, four children: Ronald (Marlene) Phillips, Linda Phillips and Carl Phillips all of Havana and Glenda (Merle) Long of Lacon, IL. He is also survived by one sister Edith Reeves of Lebanon, MO, four grandchildren: David Long of Philadelphia, Tara Long of Phoenix, Kim Shine of Naples, ME Brian Phillips of Springfield, IL; four great-grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Phillips was a member of the Havana Church of Christ. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. during WWII. He retired from the Forman Unit Schools after working as a custodian for eighteen years.

Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Warren Hughes will officiate.
