Dale "Gene" McGee

(1935 -2009)

Dale “Gene” McGee, 74, of Petersburg passed away September 30, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on May 14, 1935 in Bushnell, IL to Dale “Dude” and Cleo Weaver McGee. He married Darlene Hoffman on April 27, 1963 in Bushnell.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene of Petersburg; two daughters, Gena McGee Boensel and Dara (Jamie) Gilbert, both of Petersburg; one granddaughter, Hillary (Fiance, Lee Pulliam) Boensel and their daughter, Eden Lynn Pulliam, all of Pleasant Plains; a grandson, Daniel Gilbert of Tallula; and aunt, Flora Weaver of Bushnell.

Gene worked as a tree trimmer for CIPS for 35 years in Macomb and Petersburg. He was a diehard Cub Fan.

A private family memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2009. A public visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 2:00 pm till 5:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
