Dale Alfred Bortell

(1919-2011)

Dale Alfred Bortell, 98, of Easton, died at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.  He was born on September 19, 1912 the son of Elmer and Emma (Knapp) Bortell in Topeka.  He married Ruby Doris Cave on July 28, 1935, she survives.

Survivors are his wife Ruby, two daughters: Joan (Bob) Montgomery of Easton and Dee Ann Davis of Lincoln; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Bortell owned and operated a garage in Easton for many years and was also a television salesman.  He was a member of the Easton Optimist, and a graduate of Forest City High School.   

A private family service has been requested, in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Easton United Methodist Church or the Mason City Area Nursing Home.  Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements.
