Daniel Martin

(1976- 2010)

Daniel Roy Martin, 34, of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at his residence. He was born on June 12, 1976 in Springfield, IL to Danny and Vera Backs Martin.

He is survived by his parents, Danny and Vera Martin of Petersburg; three sons, Jared Martin of Kingston Springs, TN, Kameron and Connor Martin of Petersburg; sister, Jennifer (Clayton) Roberts of Louisville, KY; grandmother, Robylee Martin of Petersburg; and companion, Natasha Atterberry of Petersburg. 

 He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Roy Martin; maternal grandparents, Homer and Faye Backs; one uncle; and one aunt.

 Mr. Martin worked for Petersburg Police Department, as Chief of Police. He also worked part time for Athens Police Department. He was a member of Menard County Rescue Squad, Menard County Rescue Dive Team, and Petersburg Fire Department.

 Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. Don Pritchard will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
