Robert Dean Bacon

Pekin, IL - Robert Dean Bacon, 58, of Pekin passed away
at 5:15 pm Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 in the Emergency Room of Pekin Memorial
Hospital. He was born in Pekin on June 23, 1951 the son of Robert and Naomi
McEvers Bacon. He married Ann Hurley July 13, 1974 in Havana and she survives.
In addition to his wife Dean is survived by one son; Peter
stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, two daughters; Dr. Elizabeth Bacon of
Cincinnati, OH, and Gretchen (Matt) Jacobs of Phoenix, AZ.; one aunt; one uncle
and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother,
Bradley.
Dean spent 32 years with the Pekin Police Department during
which time he was very active in crime prevention in the schools and the Officer
Ollie Program, he owned and operated Mauries in downtown Pekin and was currently
working for Allegiant Airlines at the Peoria Airport. He was a member of St.
Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pekin, currently serving his 6th term on
District 108 School Board, former member of the Ambucs, former past board member
of the Pekin Boys and Girls Club, past member of the Elks Club, and serves on
the committee to save Jones Field.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009
at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pekin with Frs. Brian Kellington and James
Fedosuk officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 pm Friday at
the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home in Pekin. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill
Cemetery at Havana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pekin Boys and
