Della B. Stephens 1927 - 2008 Della B. Stephens, 81, of Peoria, formerly of Havana, passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at OSF – St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born April 9, 1927 in Kewanee, IL to Jasper and Nannie (Cobb) Whitehead. She married James E. Stephens on March 9, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1952. Mrs. Stephens is survived by two sons: Dayton (Mary) Stephens of Peoria and Douglas (Shelia) Stephens of Athens, one daughter: Anita (Ken) Watson, of Havana, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one sister: Leota Larson of Havana. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and one grandson. Mrs. Stephens was an avid reader. She enjoyed hunting for mushrooms and wild asparagus and fishing. She also loved her German Shepherds. She was a lifetime long-suffering Cubs fan who was once again disappointed this fall. Graveside services will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana on Wednesday, October 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Jeff Whitehead officiating. Visitation will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Havana Food Pantry.
