Donald Ray Douglas

(1938-2011)

Donald Ray Douglas, 73, of Mason City died at 3:58pm, on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.  He was born on March 6, 1938 the son of Ray and Velma (Dennison) Douglas in Lincoln.  He married Judith Johnson on June 17, 1962 at the Christian Church.

Survivors are his wife Judy; two sons: D. Jay (Jill) Douglas, Derick (Amy) Douglas.  Also surviving are four grandchildren: Colleen, Quinn, Corey and Cailyn; two brothers: Melvin (Marilyn) Douglas, Kenneth (Luann) Douglas; one sister: Linda (Russell) Lockenour. Also his faithful dog Parker.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Douglas graduated from Mason City High School in 1956.  He served in the National Guard and farmed in the Mason City area for many years.  He belonged to the Mason County Farm Bureau and was a trap shooter for many years. 

Services will be at 2:00pm, Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Hurley Funeral Home, Pastor Curt McCallister will officiate.  Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Private family burial will take place at a later date.  Memorials can be left to Mason City Cemetery Association.
