Donal K. Cain

1933-2012

Donal K. Cain, 78, of Mason City, passed away at his home at 6:48 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2012. He was born August 27, 1933 in Galva, IL to Morris and Isabelle (Murchison) Cain. He married Lorena Palmer on February 13, 1955.

Mr. Cain is survived by his wife, Lorena, of Mason City, daughter-in-law, Trela Cain of Pekin, granddaughter, Stacy (Shannon) Gregory of Pekin, grandson, Stephen Cain of Chicago, two great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Kale Gregory of Pekin. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Mark Cain, one brother and one sister.  

Mr. Cain was a member of the Mason City 1^st United Methodist Church. He was a founding member of the 1^st State Bank of Mason City.   Don served his country with the United States Navy.  He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Don was the owner and operator of Cain Funeral Home in Mason City for 38 years, retiring from funeral service in 2000.

Visitation will be held at Cain-Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2012. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012. Graveside services will be held at Galva Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. following the funeral service. Rev. Stephen King will officiate.
