Donald H. Specketer, 85, of
Havana, passed away at his home at 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday, September 07, 2011.
He was born December 4, 1925 in rural Havana to Harry and Eleanor (Schilling)
Specketer. He married Mildred White on June 5, 1946 in Havana.
Mr. Specketer is survived by his
wife, Mildred, of Havana, son, Stephen (Barb) Specketer and daughter, Janice
(Craig) Stephens, both of Havana, six grandchildren, twelve
great-grandchildren, one brother, Kenneth (Joyce) Specketer of Havana and
sister, Janet (Dale) Brown of Oakford. He was preceded in death by his parents
and three brothers, Clyde, Lloyd and Glenn Specketer.
Mr. Specketer is a member of St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana. He worked as a farmer his whole life, retiring
at the age of 65 and then continuing to help his family until he was 80 years
old. He served in the Marine Corps from 1943 – 1946 in Palau, Okinawa and then
for six months in China.
Funeral services will be held at
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011
with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the service
at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Rev. Martin W. Liebmann Jr. will officiate.
