Doris M. Deverman

(1926 - 2005)

 

Doris Mae Deverman, 79, of Greenview, IL died at her home on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 5:15 a.m. She was born to Roland and Mae (Ott) Benjamin in Elkhart, IL on June 17, 1926. She married George Deverman in New London, CT on June 30, 1945. He survives.

She is survived by her husband George of Greenview; 2 sons, Gary (Arlene) Deverman of Alexandria, VA and Ron (Mary Nolan) Deverman of Park Ridge, IL and one daughter, Denene (Ray) Deverman-Crabbs of Fairfax Station, VA; grandchildren: Michele (Joe) Hawkins of Bedford, PA; Cara and Michael Deverman of Park Ridge, IL; Scott (Emily) Crabbs of Williamsburg, VA; Brian (Chrissy) Crabbs of Indianapolis, IN; David Crabbs of Salt Lake City, UT; and two great grandchildren Grace and Joseph Hawkins of Bedford, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents, who raised her, (Mr. & Mrs. William Ott) and her aunt and uncle, who helped raise her, (Ki and Flo Ott).

She was a member of the Greenview United Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School for 25 years. She was also a member of the Women’s Fellowship and a vacation bible school teacher at her church. She was a member of and a Past Matron of the Greenview Eastern Star, the Greenview Legion Auxillary and the Greenview Bridge and Pinochle Club.  

She was a 1944 graduate of Greenview High School. After graduation, she worked at the Springfield State Journal-Register. During WWII she worked in at tube factory in New London, CT.

Funeral services will be held at her church on Monday October 31, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be on Sunday Oct. 30, 2005 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Greenview from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to her church. Rev. Charlotte Poetschner and Rev. Robert Hanson will officiate. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview following the services.
