(Williamson) Cargill [1921-2011]
Dorothy was
born to Leslie and Beulah Williamson in Lincoln, Illinois on November 14, 1921;
she was part of a family of five children that included brothers Clyde, Les,
Art, and Bob. For many years, they lived at 301 Palmer Ave.
In 1942, she
married Robert F. Cargill of Mason City, Illinois after they met at Lincoln
College. Bob and Dorothy had four children: Bob Jr. (Anne), Clyde Philip
(Deborah), Greg (Kathryn), and Milea (Dan). She is grandmother to eleven
grandkids, great-grandmother to six, and “Aunt Dot" to nineteen nieces and
nephews.
She originally taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Lincoln. She taught off and
on throughout her life and finished the last twelve years at Warrensburg-Latham
where she started the kindergarten program. In addition, Dorothy was active in
the church (Central Christian Church) and in Theater 7 (community theater group)
in Decatur for many years including the lead in" Born Yesterday". Dorothy was an
avid reader and was active with many hobbies, but spent most of her time with
her ever-growing family.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Mason City
Cemetery at 3:00pm. Visitation will
be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home beginning at 2:00pm.
Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of the arrangements.
