Dorothy Smith

(1925 -2010)

Dorothy L. Smith, 84, of Petersburg, passed away Friday May 21, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center.  She was born December 5, 1925, the daughter of Edward J. and Myrtle B. (Ross) Eve, in New Albany, IN.  She Married John W. Smith in Hope, AR. in 1941.  He preceded her in death March 10, 1997.

Dorothy worked for Ideal Industries for 20 years, retiring in 1984.  In her retirement years, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was of the Methodist faith. 

She is survived by one son John (wife Debra) Smith of Springfield, one grandson Adam Smith of Springfield, one granddaughter Lyndsey (husband Barry) Houmes of Rochester, one brother Paul Eve of New Albany, IN, one stepdaughter Delores Burke of Louisburg, Kansas, and several nieces, and nephews.

Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Edward Eve, and Robert Eve, and two sisters Norma Gaines, and Edna Coombs.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m.Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.  Pastor John Vidakovich will be officiating.
