Dorothy Elizabeth Reeser Schroen

1924 - 2011

Dorothy Elizabeth Reeser Schroen, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at age 87 years of age, in Austin, Texas. She was born in Eureka, Illinois and was reared in Washington, Illinois. She was married to Donald Oscar Schroen for 63 years and they lived in Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio, and Connecticut, then retiring to live in Austin, Texas in 1992.
 
Dorothy was a most loving wife and devoted mother. Surviving are her three sons: Gregory, Gary (his wife, Debra), and Guy (his wife, Carrie) followed by five grandchildren: Brandon, John, Colby, Sydney and Charlotte. Dorothy’s older brother, Kenneth, and her husband, Donald, preceded her in death.  Her younger sister, Carol, survives her.
 
Dorothy worked for Caterpillar, Inc. and also AT&T for 20 years. Dorothy's interests included gardening, gourmet cooking, and travel. She was active in her church and she especially loved summer vacations at the seashore with her family.
 
A memorial service will be held for both Don and Dorothy at 10am on Saturday, November 19th, 2011 at Hurley Funeral Home, 217 N. Plum Street Havana, IL 62644. Phone (309) 543-2244.  Immediately following the memorial will be a committal service at Bishop Cemetery, E County Road 2000 North, Bishop, IL.
