Dorothy Vivian Tuttle

1916 - 2006

Dorothy Vivian Tuttle, 90, of Petersburg died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born on January 7, 1916 in Dallas, TX to E.L. and Alice Smith Banta. She married Milton Tuttle on November 27, 1931 in Tallula, IL. He preceded her in death.
 
She is survived by three daughters, Pat (Ronald) Botsford of Black Mountain, North Carolina, Thala Jean (John) Stewart of Petersburg, and Phyllis “Phib” (Mike) Hedden of Havana; one daughter-in-law, Kay Tuttle; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
 
Her husband, one son, Thales “Butch” Tuttle, and two brothers preceded Mrs. Tuttle in death.
 
She had owned and operated a beauty shop in Petersburg for many years. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church of Petersburg, Menard County Garden Club, and Evening Atude. Sh ewas active in all forms of music, she played piano and organ for many functions.
 
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 31, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg. Memorial contributions may be made to donor’s choice.
