Doyle Dean Hammack

1927 - 2011

Doyle Dean Hammack, 83, of Havana, passed away at his home at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011. He was born August 3, 1927 in Havana to Scott W. and Lela Elizabeth (Hampton) Hammack. He married Nina Gilmore on December 1, 1949 in Havana. She preceded him in death on March 5, 1995.

Mr. Hammack is survived by two brothers, Donald “Can” (Ruby) Hammack of Ipava, and Douglas Hammack Sr. of Arenzville, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Ralph, Dale and Larry and one sister Lucille Larson.

Mr. Hammack served in the US Army from 1945 until 1947. He worked at a factory in Peoria and later at Hardwood Lumber Co. in Pekin for several years. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and fishing at his family’s pond.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Visitiaton will be held Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Rev. Darrell Auten will officiate.
