D. R. Swann 1938 - 2006
Virginia, IL - D. R. Swann, 68, of 181 W. Union
St., Virginia, IL passed away at 10:05 pm Sun. Sept. 24, 2006 at Memorial
Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born Jan. 17, 1938 in Sand Ridge,
Tennessee, the son of Samuel R. and Margaret Evans Swann. He married Linda
Kay Taylor Dec. 31, 1985 in Chandlerville, IL and she survives.
Mr. Swann was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Chandlerville where he served as Church Superintendent for many years as well as serving on the church board. He worked as a mechanic for D-R Implement and later for Tom Henry’s small engine repair. He is survived by two brothers, A. B. (Wanda) Swann and Calvin Coolidge (Jean) Swann both of Jefferson City, Tennessee. Two half sisters, one niece and three nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, three half brothers and two half sisters. Services will held at 11:00 am Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Chandlerville conducted by Revs. Mike Stroh and Duane Turley. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday at the Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com. |
