Duane Edward Hoffman   

(1929-2008)

Duane Edward Hoffman, 78, of San Jose, died 1:55pm, Monday, February 4, 2008 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  He was born October 9, 1929 in rural Mason City, the son of Harold E. and Ruth (Bayne) Hoffman.  He married Frances Teichmann March 4, 1951 at the Baptist Church in Mason City, she survives.

Survivors are his wife Frances; one daughter: Janice (Wayne) Moldenhauer of San Jose; two sons: Jeff (Sue) Hoffman of Pekin, Scott (Connie) Hoffman of Fulton; six grandchildren: Kathleen and Alan Moldenhauer, Heather and Holly Hoffman, Jacob and Samuel Hoffman; two sisters: Martha (Gerald) Kinnamon of Lewistown, Patricia (Stan) Votaw of Peoria; one brother: Clyde (Dorothy) Hoffman of San Jose.  Mr. Hoffman was preceded in death by one brother, Ray.

Mr. Hoffman graduated San Jose High School in 1947, was in the Army during the Korean War serving in Japan, he worked at Caterpillar as a Machinist for 33 years, drove a school bus for San Jose Schools and later, Illini Central Schools and also a farmer.  He was a member of the Lions Club in San Jose for years.

Services will be 10:30am, Friday, February 8, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in San Jose, Rev. Don Doty will officiate.  Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7, also at the church.  Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery.  Memorials may be left to American Diabetes, American Cancer Society or Donor’s choice.  Hurley Funeral Home in San Jose is in charge of arrangements.
