E. Marguerite Brodie

(1925 - 2006)

E. Marguerite Brodie, 80 of Petersburg, died at Memorial Hospital in Springfield at 7:05 a.m. on January 5, 2006. She was born in Keokuk, IA on July 30, 1925 to Carl and Esther (Robbe) Henke. She married Lloyd R. Brodie in Kahoka, MO on March 5, 1943. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1983. 

Mrs. Brodie is survived by her daughters: Marcella (Jim) Leighton of Galesburg and Esther (Frank) Brodie-Vogel of Petersburg; one step daughter: Loretta Kaiser of West Des Moines, IA; one son: Carl (Jean) Brodie of Peoria; one step son; Lloyd F. Brodie of Albuquerque, NM; one brother: Carl Henke, Jr of Forsyth, MO; one sister: Mary Lou Storms of Altoona, IA; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. Her parents, husband and one grandson preceded her in death. 

Mrs. Brodie owned and operated Rainbow Roller Rink in Petersburg with her husband. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Petersburg. She was a past member of the Menard County Home Extension. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Brodie will be held on Monday, January 9, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Petersburg at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 3:00 to 5:00pm on Sunday at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg.. Burial will be at Farmer’s Point Cemetery in Petersburg following the services.  

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Petersburg or the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
