Holland Edward "Ed" Sperry (1924 - 2005) Holland Edward “Ed” Sperry, 81, of Mason City died 8:58am Thursday, November 3, 2005 at his residence. He was born August 13, 1924 to John James and Margery Kathryn (Burkinshaw) Sperry in Galesburg, Illinois. He married Carolyn R. Gustafson, July 3, 1948 in Burlington, Iowa. She died May 24, 1994. Mr. Sperry is survived by one brother George F. Sperry of Galesburg, Illinois, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents, wife, one brother, and 2 sisters. Mr. Sperry worked as an electrician supervisor on several projects throughout Illinois and Iowa and was also part time self-employed as an electrician. He was a 1942 graduate of Galesburg High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Graveside services will be held at Mason City Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday November 5, 2005. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Mason City Area Nursing Home. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements. |
