Edward Brass Barbee, 78, of Petersburg, IL, died on August 22, 2006 at 6:05 am at memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on March 28, 1928 in Springfield to Alonzo and Suzie Griffin Barbee. He married Connie Stith on May 28, 1949 in Greenview, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Susan (John) Burke of Springfield, and Shelly (Dave) Flickinger of Petersburg; one brother, Wick (Pauline) Barbee of Bath; one sister Mary Evelyn (Elmer) Thomas of Petersburg; one grandson, Michael Burke of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Barbee was a postal carrier in Petersburg. He owned and operated several businesses in Petersburg including E-C Way Laundry and Aunt Bea's Calicos and Crafts. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Petersburg, Clinton Lodge #19 AF & AM, St. Aldemar #47, Order of Easter Star of Petersburg, and the ANSAR Shrine.
Funeral services for Mr. Barbee will be held on August, 26, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Petersburg at 11:00 am with Pastor Robert Shook officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Petersburg.
