Edwin D. Leinweber

(1920-2007)

Edwin D. Leinweber, 87 of Mason City died at 12:28pm, October 16, 2007 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.  He was born February 6, 1920, the son of Casper and Wilhelmina (Gathman) Leinweber in San Jose.  He married Eileen Rabbe January 16, 1946; she died June 14, 1996.  He remarried Esther Surface July 12, 1997, she survives.

Survivors are three daughters; Bonnie (Fred) Reeves of Mason City, Carolyn (Jim) Liesman of Mason City, Beverly Young of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Mr. Leinweber is preceded in death by parents and two brothers.

Mr. Leinweber was an Army WWII Veteran, Bronze Star recipient, a retired Salt Creek farmer, where he had many friends, a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Services will be at 11:00am Saturday, October 20, 2007 at his church; Pastor J. Derek Riddle will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00.  Burial will be at the Mason City Cemetery.  Memorials may be left to his church or the Mason City Area Nursing Home.  Hurley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
