Eileen M. Hilst

(1924-2010)

Eileen M. Hilst, 85, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the Mason City Area Nursing Home surrounded by her family.  Eileen was born in Natrona, IL on June 30, 1924 to Marie and George Laumeier.  She attended Natrona Community School and graduated from San Jose High School.  She married Henry Jr. Hilst on June 25, 1944; he died in 1998.  Over the years, Eileen worked as a manager of Lord’s Dress Shop in Lincoln, as librarian for the Mason City Library, and as an aide at the Mason City Area Nursing Home, the job she loved most. 

Eileen was a tireless worker for her lord at Christ Lutheran Church and was active in the community and various social groups and organizations.  She loved and was very much loved by her family and her many friends. 

Eileen is survived by two sons, Gary (Phyllis) and Keith (Judy) of Mason City and a daughter, Yvonne (John) Zumstein of Springfield; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and her husband, Eileen was predeceased by her brother, Alvin Laumeier of Manito. 

Visitation we be at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City Thursday 4:30 to 7 PM; funeral services will be Friday, 10:00 at Christ Lutheran Church, Mason City.
