Elsie Timm died in the Lord on December 17 at Mason City Area Nursing Home. Born on January 18, 1914 as the youngest child of Henry and Delia Rabbe, she was preceded in death by her thirteen brothers and sisters. Educated at Mason City schools, she married the Rev. Harry A. Timm on June 24, 1934 and served with him in Lutheran congregations in San Jose and Chapin before moving in 1953 to Peoria, where Pastor Timm served as a hospital chaplain. In 1979 they relocated to Milwaukee, WI, where her husband died in 1980. She moved to St. Louis, MO in 1984 where she lived until returning to Mason City in 1999.

She is survived by her daughter Miriam (spouse George deceased) Greene of Mason City; daughter Eunice (spouse John) Miller of Portland, OR; son Lowell (spouse Kathi) Timm of Milwaukee, WI; and grandchildren Jarrett and Eric Greene, Michael Miller and Kristin (Miller) Loch, Nathan Timm, Aaron Timm, and Anna (Timm) DeBenedet; and great-grandchildren Greta and Emma Miller, Max Loch; Madeline and Ryan Timm; Sam, Jack, and Ben Timm; and Ava and Mia DeBenedet.

To them she leaves a legacy of creativity with heart and hands in sewing, cooking, and baking; an inquisitiveness of mind for reading and travel; an imagination expressed in writing poetry and painting; a faith in the God of Jesus Christ shown in her life of service and worship; and a loyalty to family and friends revealed in her steady commitment of interest and support.

Her life among us and God’s promise of her life among the saints will be celebrated in a funeral liturgy at Christ Lutheran Church, Mason City, on December 21 with visitation at the church at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00. A luncheon at the church will follow the service, and the burial will occur at the Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria at 2:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Christ Lutheran Church, Mason City, or to the Mason City Area Nursing Home.
